One of the slight disappointments with the extension is that despite the beautiful timber frame that we can see at the moment, none of it will be visible at the end. There is no space for Tudor style half timbering on an eco-house – the walls will be insulated and covered inside and out.
So, as homage to the timber-frame structure of the extension we are having two outsized beams used – one in each of the upstairs bedrooms. These will still be visible at the end of the process when all of the rest of the wood is covered up.
