Eco-house timber frame

A low breeze block wall has been built on the foundations and then the timber frame goes up really quickly.

The windows seem much bigger than I’d expected – that’s a good thing! It is tricky to get a good feel for this sort of thing from the plans.

The opening for the patio doors can be seen below:

This side of the house is north-facing so will not get direct sunlight. Ecohouse design recommends minimising the size of windows on north-facing walls so we are not doing the large expanses of glass thing. But as it looks out on to our garden we did want some views so we are having patio doors and windows but they will be tripled glazed to help keep the heat in.
